General Plant Care

GENERAL PLANT CARE

Plants are living things, and it’s normal for them to need a short adjustment period after being delivered to a new space. The guidance below covers the basic care needs that apply to most indoor plants we sell and will help your plant settle in and thrive.

LIGHT

Most indoor plants prefer bright, indirect light. Avoid placing plants in direct sun unless you know the plant specifically needs it, and keep them away from drafty windows, heating vents, or exterior doors.

WATERING

Overwatering is the most common issue we see. As a general rule, allow the top inch of soil to dry slightly before watering again. When you water, do so thoroughly until excess water drains out, and never let plants sit in standing water.

SAUCERS & SURFACE PROTECTION

We recommend placing a tray or saucer under your plant to catch excess water and protect furniture and surfaces. Empty the saucer after watering so the plant does not sit in standing water.

POTS & DRAINAGE

If your plant is in a decorative container, make sure excess water can drain properly. If there is no drainage hole, water sparingly and check moisture levels before each watering.

TEMPERATURE & ENVIRONMENT

Indoor plants are happiest in stable temperatures between 65–75°F. Sudden changes, cold drafts, or heat sources can cause stress and temporary leaf drop.

AFTER DELIVERY ADJUSTMENT

Some plants may drop a leaf or look slightly stressed after delivery. This is normal and usually resolves within a week or two as the plant adjusts to its new environment.
