Make Summer Bloom with Locally Grown Flowers

Make Summer Bloom with Locally Grown Flowers

At Hignight Florist in East Moline, Illinois, summer is more than just wedding season. It’s when our design table comes alive with locally grown flowers from farms right here in the Midwest.

While we carry fresh flowers from around the world year-round, the warmer months give us the chance to feature seasonal flowers grown in Illinois and Iowa. Most of these blooms are harvested just a day or two before they reach your arrangement, which means they look better, smell fresher, and last longer.

Each week, we work with regional flower farms to source customer favorites like:

Zinnias

Dahlias

Sunflowers

Snapdragons

Lisianthus

Celosia

Hydrangea

And lots of other blooms, depending on what’s in season at the time

These local stems have a charm and vibrancy that’s hard to match. They also support sustainable practices, reduce transportation time, and help keep our dollars circulating within the community.

The photo above features one of our favorite weddings from earlier this summer. The arch was designed with mostly locally grown flowers, including lisianthus, peonies, delphiniums, ad snapdragons. Almost every flower came from within 90 miles of our shop. We built the piece in our shop the day before the event using stems that had been cut just the day before and then made minor adjustments on site. The end result wasn’t just beautiful—it felt meaningful too.

From late spring through early fall, you’ll notice more homegrown blooms showing up in our wedding work, event installations, and everyday flower delivery designs. If you’d like something seasonal and sourced from nearby, just let us know. We’re always happy to build arrangements around what’s fresh that week.

Hignight Florist is proud to be your local source for East Moline flower delivery, custom event flowers, and wedding florals in the Quad Cities. We love bringing in what’s blooming close to home, and we think you’ll love it too!
